Make room for the conversation you keep putting off
Relationships rarely unravel because of one spectacular argument. More often, it is the same frustration appearing in different clothes. Communication becomes strained, affection disappears beneath daily pressure and both people end up feeling unheard.
Kerry Abbott offers private relationship and couples counselling in Mandurah. Sessions provide a structured place to slow the conversation down, understand what is happening between you and work out what needs attention.
You can attend together or seek individual counselling about a relationship, separation or recurring pattern. Sessions are available from Impello’s professional office in Mandurah, by telehealth and through a mobile service covering Halls Head, Greenfields, Meadow Springs, Falcon, Dawesville and the wider Peel Region.
When Relationship Counselling May Help
When talking keeps turning into the same argument
You do not have to wait until a relationship reaches breaking point. Counselling can be useful when you feel disconnected, misunderstood or unsure how to move forward.
Trust has been damaged
Betrayal, secrecy and broken agreements can leave a relationship feeling uncertain. Counselling creates space to discuss what happened, understand its impact and consider what rebuilding trust would require.
You are considering separation
Some couples arrive hoping to reconnect. Others need help deciding whether the relationship can continue. Counselling allows both people to examine the situation carefully and communicate more clearly about what happens next.
What Happens During Relationship Counselling?
Kerry gives each person time to speak and helps keep the conversation useful. The purpose is to understand the relationship dynamic, identify what each person needs and develop practical ways to communicate beyond the counselling room.
Sessions may explore:
Communication and conflict patterns
Emotional connection and intimacy
Trust, honesty and boundaries
Stress affecting the relationship
Different expectations or priorities
Parenting and changing family roles
Separation, divorce and life afterwards
You do not need to arrive with matching versions of the problem. Kerry begins by hearing what each person is experiencing and establishing what you would like counselling to help with.
Ways to attend
Relationship and couples counselling sessions run for 60 minutes. Impello’s currently published fee is $200 per session.
Individual relationship counselling is also available for people attending alone. Impello currently lists individual face-to-face and telehealth counselling at $150.
A note about safety
Joint counselling may not be appropriate where there is violence, intimidation, coercive control or a fear of speaking honestly in front of the other person. Kerry can discuss suitability privately and help you consider a safer form of support.
Impello is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 000.
